KMR is a subsidiary of DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd, the principle owner of the world’s largest platinum group metal (PGM) recycling plant, NIPPON PGM.
DOWA has annual revenues approaching $4 billion USD, is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and was established over 130 years ago in 1884.
In January 2017, DOWA and PGM recovery veterans Key Engineering Solutions LCC teamed up to form Key Metal Refining LLC. DOWA owns 51% of the company and Key Engineering Solutions owns 49%.

KMR purchases and de-cans spent catalytic converters at it’s PGM plant in Hainesport New Jersey, and the materials are sent to DOWA for further refinement and smelting.
